Taking steroids for hives

Oral steroids ( prednisone , [ Medrol ]) can help severe cases of hives in the short term, but their usefulness is limited by the fact that many cases of hives last too long for steroid use to be continued safely. Other treatments have been used for urticaria as well, including montelukast ( Singulair ), ultraviolet radiation , antifungal antibiotics, agents that suppress the immune system, and tricyclic antidepressants ( amitriptyline [ Elavil , Endep ], nortriptyline [ Pamelor , Aventyl], doxepin [Sinequan, Adapin]). Evidence to support the benefit of such treatments is sparse. In ordinary cases, they are rarely needed. A new treatment recently available for chronic urticaria is the monthly subcutaneous injection of a monoclonal antibody, omalizumab ( Xolair ), directed against the IgE receptor on human mast cells.

I am so glad to find this site. I have suffered a handful of times in my life and could link most of them to some change, food, meds, etc. this time I am stumped. I just went through 2 months of zero (0) fat diet, my gallbladder was failing. I had 2 severe painful bouts before going fatfree. I lost 45lbs, so not such a bad deal. Had surgery, gallbladder taken out. My body does not like fat now- am told it would adjust in 3 months to a year. I used a lotion with goat milk, not realizing it was expired. I broke out from the tip of my finger to just above my elbows, where I had put the cream. But then they spread- everywhere it seems. Big nasty red welts, itch to high heaven. I think it has to do with the fat thing, and also if once in motion of hives, do they have a mind of their own and keep spreading?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Quercetin and evening primrose   are   two supplements for hives that will calm and get rid of your hives faster. ( 19 ) Quercetin is a natural antihistamine and an anti-inflammatory. Test tube studies have revealed that quercetin prevents immune cells from releasing histamines, which cause allergic reactions like hives. ( 20 ) Other studies have also shown that quercetin, a natural medicine and phytochemical, is as effective at fighting allergies as some prescription medications, all with little to no side effects. ( 21 ) Other supplement recommendations include vitamin B12, vitamin C, vitamin D and fish oil . It all started with salmon that I had for Dinner Aug 16,2017 the next day I wake up to my ears inflated, I came home from work to take Benadryl and let my body rest, what I thought was over only just begun. I started to feel inflammation all through my body the hives were huge never had hives like this before, I went to the ER they gave me steroids and Benadryl what I thought was working was only making my body worse.
I started to get stomach pains from the medication my body was reacting in defense mode to everything and anything. 2 weeks later I wake up to half of my face swollen and had to rush to the ER again they gave me IV Steroids and Benadryl, feeling better they again prescribed me with more steroids and Benadryl the next day its as if nothing ever happened I was fine, Sunday came around the hives started to come back, huge and they hurt so bad I was crying everyday, finally went to my primary doctor where they gave me an antibiotic shot in my behind, which clamed everything down, gave me some hydrocortisone pills to take for itch and burn was taking those for a bit and stopped because I was getting stomach pains, the hives yes after 7 weeks are still here, I just want them to go away and all these doctors don’t know what is causing it, I done it all change the sheets stop eating this and that and they still appear I can tolerate them but they are still there.
I just want help to take this away for good something that will boost my immune system to stop my body from fighting with itself.
